Roinn E Champions

There was cause for double celebrations last Friday when  our boys and girls won their respective finals in the Roinn E Cumann na mBunscol hurling and camogie finals. Amid scenes of great joy and jubilation, the captains lifted the trophy on behalf of their team and their school. The girls played against Kilbrien in a thrilling final and each player gave it their all, not a blade of grass went untouched as they covered every inch of the pitch in the pursuit of glory. Jenna Quinn, team captain, proudly accepted the trophy. It was a fantastic team effort from one and all.

Not to be outdone, the boys also rose to the challenge! Playing against Villierstown, it was a game of grit and perseverance. The boys’ level of fitness stood to them as the match progressed and once they settled down, their skill and determination became all the more obvious. Teamwork was the vital ingredient here and the boys displayed great co-operation as they chased score after score. When the final whistle blew, captains George Tobin and Jack Denieffe proudly accepted the trophy on behalf of their team.

To pull off a double is no mean feat! Well done to you all, all the training paid dividends on the day. Our sincere thanks goes to all involved in the preparations for the final. Thanks to Ms. Coleman for all the training sessions at lunchtime and  to Conor Prendergast for his GAA coaching and expertise, much appreciated.
